The black stem rust quarantine and regulations quarantine the contiguous 48 States and the District of Columbia and govern the interstate movement of certain plants of the genera Berberis, Mahoberberis, and Mahonia, known as barberry plants. APHIS is adding four varieties of Berberis species to to the list of rust-resistant species, which will allow for the interstate movement of these newly developed varieties without unnecessary restrictions.
