Puccinia substriata is an important pathogen of pear millet (Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Brown) used as cover crop in no-tillage crop farming systems in central Brazil. Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is a host of stage 0 and stage I of this pathogen.
