Host: Malpighia emarginata, acerolla, also known as Barbados cherry or wild crapemyrtle
Disease name: Anthracnose
Pathogen name: Colletotrichum gloeosporioides

One of the major obstacles to successful cultivation of the acerolla in Brazil is the fruit's susceptibility to anthracnose, caused by the fungus Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. Anthracnose is one of the most important postharvest diseases of acerolla and dramatically reduces fruit yield and quality.
