Increased weight of gravity-compensated crown gall tumors developing on carrot disks in comparison with those exposed to 1 g has been reported. An increase in radius of the meristematic rings of growth centers in these teratoma type galls was observed and provides an explanation for this phenomenon. The crown gall system is proving to be a sensitive and reliable indicator of the effects of simulated weightlessness on plant tissues.
