Isolations from the lesions consistently yielded a Colletotrichum sp. identical to the original description of C. fragariae. In inoculation tests, an isolate from a leaf lesion and an isolate from the crown of a wilted plant incited leaf spot and typical anthracnose symptoms on stolons and petioles.
