Leaf spot, blight, defoliation, and death of young plants of West Indian holly (Leea coccinea) in Hawaii were caused by Phytophthora meadii. Both green and red cultivars of Leea were diseased and shown to be highly susceptible lo several isolates of P. meadii. This is a new host record for P. meadii and the first report of the fungus in the United States.
