​The APS Pacific Division and the 69th Conference on Soilborne Plant Pathogens held a joint meeting at Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR, March 26–28. The meeting was a big success, with 180 attendees, 2 symposia, 57 oral presentations, 46 posters, and a very well attended business meeting!

​​Andrea I. Munoz Ramírez, French-Monar Latin American Fund recipient, used the funds to attend the 2024 APS Caribbean Division Meeting. She presented her work, answering questions and receiving advice; networked with professionals from around the globe; and learned about the local culture.​

​In the late 19th century, several severe forest tree diseases appeared in North America. White pine blister rust was arguably the most damaging disease of the five-needle (white) pines in North America. Blister rust led to the Quarantine Act of 1912 and a variety of eradication efforts. Eventually a successful resistant pine breeding program was created.

Phytopathology recently published the highly anticipated special focus issue "Key Challenges in Plant Pathology." By identifying challenges and tracking progress in developing solutions, we will be in a position to resolve the issues and ultimately help ensure plant health, food security, and food safety.​​

​​Graduate students and faculty of the Department of Plant Pathology, Washington State University, helped with outreach to prospective high school students at the university's Spring Preview events.

​The Nematology Lab at Clemson University is offering its Plant-Parasitic Nematode Identification Course from December 13 to 20, 2024. The course provides beginning training in the separation of nematodes from soil and the identification of nematodes to the genus level.
