About the Tour
The OPSR Industry Tour is open to graduate students and post-docs interested in learning
how organizations in the private sector and not-for-profit sector operate, as well as the various types of career opportunities available to those seeking employment with a plant pathology background. Topics cover biotechnology, crop protection, field sciences, discovery research, seed health, and plant health regulations among others. The tour includes
three full days visiting sites while covering a broad range of activities that highlight specific roles in the aforementioned segments to help students better understand the expectations around the career opportunities available in industry and not-for-profit. Participants will meet agriculture business professionals at sites similar to those visited during the 2023 tour:
- Bayer CropScience
- Corteva Agriscience
- Driscoll's
- Pivot Bio
- California Department of Pesticide Regulation
- Michael David Winery
Transportation:
Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the tour start site, their transportation back home, their hotel accommodations the night before the tour begins, as well as the last night of the tour (if necessary). OPSR will provide transportation, hotel accommodations (double occupancy), and meals
during the tour.
