OIP will award a Certificate of Achievement to honor an investigator for their contributions to international plant pathology research. The research must be conducted in a country other than the investigator's home country. In addition to the Certificate of Achievement, the recipient will also receive a monetary award of $500.00.
The award recognizes innovative research conducted outside the investigator's home country in areas such as:
- International survey network efforts
- Plant disease diagnostics
- Plant disease identification
- Plant–host interactions
- Plant pathogen characterizaion
- Unique plant disease management and control methods

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be:
- Applicants must be within 5-10 years of completing a doctoral degree to apply.
- Applicants with a master’s degree must have 10-15 years of experience in a professional plant pathology position to apply.
- Applicants must be an APS member to qualify.
Applicants are required to submit a 5-page PDF file in 12 pt font, which should include a cover letter (limited to 2 pages), a curriculum vitae (limited to 2 pages), and a one-page letter of reference. - Description of research and research accomplishments
- Selected publications related to research accomplishments: emphasis should be on refereed journal publications
- Potential for application of research and impact of research on international plant disease issues. Potential impacts should be discussed in terms of crop yields, communication of scientific information and access to improved scientific resources,
- One letter of reference from a professional colleague who is familiar with the applicant's research with contact info for the professional colleague (name, address, phone, email)
