Presented at the APS annual meeting in Charlotte, NC, this workshop covered important aspects of preparing and submitting manuscripts to Plant Disease, Phytopathology, and MPMI. The workshop, organized and led by Nik Grünwald and Tony Keinath, current and former editors-in-chief with extensive experience in reviewing and publishing in APS journals, provided an overview of the review and publication process and presented guidelines for successful publishing. Topics covered included the roles of editors-in-chief, senior editors, associate editors, and anonymous peer reviewers; proper formatting; authorship; plagiarism; reviewing; and appropriate subject matter for each journal. The workshop was geared toward graduate students and early-career scientists.
