​​APS Council recently reviewed and updated the APS Code of Conduct to include statements on our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and to document a number of Member Principles. A member vote is needed to approve the proposed changes to our Code of Conduct. The vote will be included with the APS Officers Election.

​As one becomes increasingly active in APS and takes advantage of the opportunities offered by our society, there are benefits to be reaped. Consider the benefits of belonging to a regional division: more opportunities to build professional relationships, as well as friendships; to develop collaborative projects; and for meeting attendees to present their research results.​

​​APS is blessed with a diverse membership. From Our Kitchen to Yours is a richly illustrated book of recipes submitted by OIP members and recipients of international APS and OIP awards. Proceeds from the book support the OIP Global Experience Award, which provides support for APS members to work with researchers and Extension professionals in developing countries to create and disseminate plant pathology training materials.​

​OPRO is committed to providing support, assistance, and direct efforts to promote awareness of plant health, plant diseases, and associated microorganisms through a variety of initiatives that target diverse audiences. To kick off 2022, OPRO board members gathered virtually to reflect on their 2021 outreach initiatives and to plan for an engaging year of new activities and events.

The Southern Division of The American Phytopathological Society held its 99th annual meeting March 7–10, 2022, as a hybrid in-person and virtual meeting. The meeting included  student research competition sessions, a virtual poster session, a technical session, the Careers 101 Workshop, a graduate student business meeting and social, the business meeting and awards banquet, special symposia, and a tour.​​

​"Plant hunters" traveled to remote corners of the globe to gather plant samples. At the turn of the 20th century, they were employed by the U.S. government to search for new crops and ornamentals. One such investigator was Frank N. Meyer. The story of his short life and untimely death has faded into anonymity, yet his contributions still affect us today.

​As a part of our author bio series, we interviewed Wanderson Bucker Moraes following the publication of his latest research in the February 2022 issue of Phytopathology, "Characterizing Heterogeneity and Determining Sample Sizes for Accurately Estimating Wheat Fusarium Head Blight Index in Research Plots."​
