Purpose of the Fund
The
French-Monar Latin American Fund provides financial support to APS members who are
Latin Americangraduate students and early career plant pathologists in a variety of ways. Applications will be accepted for a number of activities including:
- Attendance to meetings of the
APS Caribbean Division or the Latin American Phytopathological Congress (organized by the Latin American Phytopathological Association) Note other professional society meetings are not accepted.
- Assistance with acquisition of publications and cost of publishing research papers
- Membership scholarships to groups of professionals.
Donate to the Fund
Your contribution will help aspiring plant pathology student in Latin America network with their APS peers.

FY25 Fund Amount: $2,000 USD (1)

Eligiblity
- APS membership is required at time of submission and when funds are distributed.
- Applicant must be a Latin American graduate student or early career plant pathologists.
Graduate Student Application Requirements
Application Letter that include's the applicant's name, degree program, name of advisor and institution department along with mailing address and e-mail. The letter must describe the applicant's general academic and career goals along with a description of the need for funding and how the funds will be used.
Description of applicant's thesis research (2 page maximum)
Curriculum Vita (2 page maximum) listing the applicant's experience and publications.
Copy of the accepted abstract (oral or poster) submitted to the meeting event.
Recommendation Letter (1) from a plant pathologist familiar with the applicant's scholarly accomplishment and potential. Letter to be submitted directly using the Letter of Recommendation Form.

Early Career Application Requirements
Application Letter that includes the applicant's name, highest degree and date received, name of institution granting it, current position title and employer (including mailing address and e-mail). The letter must describe the applicant's career goals, and include a description of how the funding will be used and its value to the individual's career advancement.
Copy of the accepted abstract (oral or poster) submitted to the meeting event.
Curriculum Vita (2 page maximum) listing the applicant's experience and publications.
Recommendation Letter (1) from a plant pathologist familiar with the applicant's accomplishments and potential.
